Who is Freen Sarocha? Biography and career
Freen Sarocha (born Sarocha Chankimha, 8 August 1998) is a Thai actress and model whose bold performances and authentic charm have made her a standout figure in Southeast Asia’s entertainment landscape and a rising global force.
Born and raised in Bangkok as an only child, Sarocha took on adult responsibilities early after her parents’ separation. Determined to support her mother, she juggled several jobs throughout her teenage years — an experience that shaped her relentless work ethic.
She earned her degree with honours in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from Rangsit University, initially envisioning a career in the corporate world. That changed in 2016 when she reached the Top 15 in the Miss Teen Thailand competition. Soon after, she appeared in her first on-screen role — the music video for “Before Rain” by The Toys — marking the start of her journey in the public eye.
Freen is best known for her lead role as Khun Sam in GAP: The Series — Thailand’s first mainstream Girls’ Love drama. The series catapulted her into the spotlight, making her one of the most talked-about young stars in Asia, with a devoted fanbase that spans continents.
After early roles in So Fit and Secret Crush on You, it was GAP in 2022 that propelled her to fame. Her portrayal of Khun Sam — equal parts poised, passionate and vulnerable — resonated deeply with audiences, while her on-screen chemistry with co-star Becky Armstrong sparked the beloved phenomenon known as FreenBecky, earning a global following among fans of LGBTQ+ storytelling.
Beyond acting, Freen is the founder and creative force behind NINETYTWO, a minimalist streetwear brand offering apparel and accessories such as hoodies, T-shirts, tote bags and limited-edition merchandise. Freen Sarocha built her music career quietly, in the space beside the acting. What began as soundtrack work for her own dramas turned into something with its own centre of gravity — her voice, and what she can do with it.
It’s a soft instrument, controlled and unmistakably hers, and it does a specific job: her OSTs don’t sit under the scene, they continue it. The song is the next line of the story rather than the mood behind it.
