MBK Center’s idol showcase gave the GAP cast a slot eleven weeks before the series aired: Freen and Becky on an open mall stage, in front of anyone who stopped to watch.

The day
What happened
Idol Exchange is a recurring showcase at MBK Center that puts T-pop groups, idols and actors on a mall stage for a weekend at a time; by early 2023 the mall was counting its 27th edition. On Sunday 4 September 2022 one of those slots went to the cast of GAP: The Series, under the hashtag #GAPxIdolExchange.
The series was still filming. Freen and Becky had done a fan sign in July and a food-fair guest spot in August; this was a different kind of date, an open stage in one of Bangkok’s busiest malls where anyone walking past could stop and watch.
Why it matters
An open stage at MBK
Ten weeks later the cast came back to the same mall for the series’ blessing ceremony and press conference, this time with the national entertainment press in attendance. MBK Center bookends the run-up to GAP: the introduction in September, the send-off in November.
