What happened at Handshake Day

Handshake events come from idol fan culture: instead of a stage show, each fan gets a short turn face to face, a handshake and a few seconds to talk. On Sunday 23 October 2022, Freen Sarocha and Becky Armstrong held one in Bangkok under the name FreenBeck Handshake Day — ฟรีนเบค, “FreenBeck,” being what Thai fans call the pairing.

The day’s hashtag was #ฟรีนเบคเรามาจับมือไปด้วยกัน, which reads as “FreenBeck, let’s hold hands and go on together.” Fans paired it with #FREENBECK, #HANDSHAKE and #DAY to share their turn in the line.

Filming on GAP: The Series is reported to have wrapped the day before. Three weeks later came the blessing ceremony at MBK Center, then the premiere.
