Cannes Film Festival 2024

From 17 to 19 May 2024, Freen Sarocha and Becky Armstrong were in the South of France for the 77th Cannes Film Festival, representing Thailand’s entertainment industry and the Girls’ Love genre on one of the world’s biggest stages. Their arrival became a worldwide trending topic on X. Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore, which had just put the pair on its May 2024 cover, documented the trip in “Freen and Becky: Journey to the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.”

The trip was not a brand ambassador appearance. Freen was invited by the Red Sea International Film Festival as one of its Women in Cinema honorees, and Becky traveled with her; both were dressed by Saudi designer Eman Alajlan with high jewelry from Chopard. The magazine cover was a milestone of its own, their first international cover.

On Saturday 18 May came the moment fans had waited for: their first joint red carpet, at the premiere of Emilia Pérez at the Grand Théâtre Lumière. Freen wore a voluminous red tulle gown and Becky a pink sequined gown, both by Eman Alajlan with Chopard high jewelry. Deadline and WWD in the US listed Freen among the premiere’s guests.

Freen was also a Women in Cinema honoree, invited by the Red Sea International Film Festival. She spoke on its panel with Variety about the international reach of Thai GL, then changed into a feathered Homolog couture dress for the Women in Cinema gala that evening, where Becky joined her. Cannes opened doors. Freen and Becky returned to the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah that December, and a year later Becky was back on the Croisette for L’Oréal Paris, unveiled as a brand ambassador and ranked the festival’s No. 1 top influencer with $11.1 million in earned media value; see Becky Armstrong at the Cannes Film Festival 2025.
